The use and daily maintenance of down-the-hole hammer

12-13-2023

So what exactly should you pay attention to with an hammer? Let me tell you what time it is.

one. When drilling, try to use smaller air volume and thrust to allow the drill bit to enter the rock formation smoothly, which can reduce the impact of the hammer on the piston.

two. Since there are right-hand threads between the joints of the hammer, the hammer should always be kept right-handed during the drilling process, and the drilling should not be dry.

three. The matching of propulsion force and drilling tool weight is very important. The thrust of the propeller must change as the weight of the drilling tool changes. Remember not to push the small hammer too hard to avoid the piston or drill bit from breaking on the spot.

Four. The rotation speed of the hammer is generally 15-25rpm. The faster the rotation speed, the faster the rock drilling speed. However, in hard rock, the rotation speed should be reduced to ensure that the drill bit is not excessively worn. Operators should observe the drilling situation in time and remember to avoid smoking and chatting.

five. During the drilling process, rocks, sand, and cracks in the rock formation may cause the hole to get stuck, so it is very important to regularly use an hammer to blow hard and clean the bottom of the hole. Do not turn the drill to avoid dropping the front joint and drill bit into the hole.

six. During the rod connecting process, sand particles and iron filings will fall into the hammer, so both ends of the loosened drill rod thread must be covered to ensure that sand particles and dust do not stick to the drill rod.

seven. Reasonable lubrication of the hammer cannot be ignored. Check the lubricating oil in time, otherwise the wear of the hammer will be accelerated or even scrapped!

eight. Although it is not recommended to replace the outer cylinder, a few customers are still willing to do so, so be sure to clean all accessories and diesel in a container, and remember not to hit it with a sledgehammer.
